MUSICAL THEATRE TEACHING + COACHING

I am super proud to have spent more than 10 years working in the professional theatre. As an actress I toured the far reaches of the US in the 5th anniversary tour of RENT playing the role of Maureen Johnson. As a casting director, I was lucky enough to have collaborated with some of the most creative and passionate people working in the theatre today, guiding the casting process on such Broadway shows as The Lion King, Grease, Ring of Fire, Gypsy, Brighton Beach Memoirs and many many more.

During this time I had the honor of teaching at the most influential musical theater training programs in the US, including Carnegie Melon, CCM, Boston Conservatory, NYU and many more. My love of musicals is never more evident than when coaching a performer to reach his or her greatest potential. I strive to guide each performer to find the truth in their performance, through deep understanding of character and by tuning the instrument of their voice and body in order to faithfully and beautifully honor the music and lyrics.

master classes + workshops

I love working in a group setting as I believe many truths about ourselves and our own performances are revealed through watching the work of others. I can design a 2, 4 or 8 week course for your school, camp or theater organization tailored to the needs of your performers. I am also available for one day workshops ranging from 3-6 hours.

I treat every song as a scene and spend significant time dealing with creating a relationship with our scene partner, why we must sing at this moment and the crucial moment before we start to sing.

As a singer I am skilled in helping each student find the appropriate placement in their voice and getting them to healthfully unleash their vocal power.

Much class time is devoted to the art of the audition. Understanding how to enter a room, direct an accompanist, interact with the people behind the table, dress appropriately and choose material, are vital to anyone considering entering the professional or collegiate theater world.

private coaching

With any audition, whether for college conservatory admissions, summer stock, local theater companies or even the high school musical, preparation is 90% of the battle.

YOU CAN NOT WING IT.

I will guide you in your audition prep every step of the way -  from helping you choose and prepare your music and/or monologue, to finessing the right "look," to finding an emotional life and getting you singing to your highest potential - until you can walk in calm, confident and ready to nab that role.

In even one session, I will guarantee that you will look and sound better, have a deeper connection to your audition material and actually be excited for your audition!

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

“I truly loved worked with Sara during her days as a Casting Director. She was always on her game, running the room with precision while keeping the atmosphere friendly and supportive.  It wasn't just a job to her; she truly cared about assembling a first-rate cast for the project, in the way that only the most passionate of artists do their gig.”
